Give The Oldie for just £20 this Xmas

James Hughes-Onslow

James Hughes-Onslow has been writing about memorial services since Ned Sherrin, originator of the column, died in 2007. He has written columns in The Field, The Spectator, Punch, The Evening Standard, Daily Express, Daily Telegraph but he believes The Oldie's page celebrating distinguished and amusing lives is unique in the world. Funerals are grim affairs but thanksgiving services are an opportunity to smile again.
