Blonde, busty and agreed by all to be ravishing, 27-year-old Sydney Sweeney is in the vanguard of ‘bimbos with brains’ – female stars who are known to be reasonably intelligent but who are, semi-ironically, twerking and eyelash-batting in minimal clothing, and bicycling in nothing but thongs and high heels, to plug their products and build their bank balances. Sweeney (whose product is brassières) rose to stardom in the hit TV series Euphoria, where she played a promiscuous teenager. She then starred in Christy, a 2025 biopic about America’s best-known female boxer, Christy Martin. She was in a storm of controversy over her ‘SYDNEY SWEENEY HAS GREAT JEANS’ advert for American Eagle. An otherwise playful meditation on her own ravishing beauty was seized on by clicktivists who accused the ad of being a coded message...
