Travel Tips: Budapest & Papa New Guinea

Regulars |

Take a thermal in one of the baths at Szechenyi in Budapest or venture up the historic (but hazardous) Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea

Take a thermal If you are planning to visit Budapest this year, make sure you visit one of its thermal baths, the best of which is undoubtedly Szechenyi. It is huge and has a lovely outdoor section consisting of three outdoor baths. Don’t even think of using the indoor ones because, whatever the weather, you can keep toasty warm outside at a constant 34C, or if this is a little too warm for you, the other outdoor pool maintains a temperature a few degrees lower. Alternatively, you can swim lengths in the largest of the three. The organisation is second to none. If you forget your cozzie or towel, these can be hired for a few forints, and lockers are available to store clothes and valuables. I strongly recommend paying a little extra to hire one of the cabins. You may need to take it in turns to get dry...
