The USA at the weekend

Blog | By James Fletcher | Jul 16, 2020

Americans are dead serious about the weekend, and organising leisure activities. It could be a large barbecue, skiing, a drive to one of the national parks for a long hike… or in this case, dragging your boat for hours across the county to man-made Lake Powell - one of the country’s largest lakes - which is primarily a water storage facility, and also attracts 2million visitors per year. It is massive. 1,900 miles of shoreline massive. Situated between Utah and Arizona…it is surrounded on all side by imposing Navajo sandstone rock formations. At several locations boat enthusiasts reverse their monster truck to the water’s edge, submerging the trailer, after which the craft floats into the lake and the vehicle is parked nearby. This deployment and removal of vessels happens all day long.
