Join Harry Mount, Oldie Editor and architectural historian, for a walk through Hampstead, rich in Queen Anne and Georgian houses.
This corner of north London boomed in the 17th and 18th centuries as a spa resort, thanks to the discovery of the iron-rich chalybeate wells. Perched on a hill, Hampstead remained undeveloped because trams couldn’t make it up the steep slopes. And so today it retains some of the finest, untouched buildings in Britain, from Burgh House to Fenton House to the parish church of St John’s, Hampstead.

We will have lunch, with wine, in the charming Wells Tavern, right next to the site of those old chalybeate wells.
