‘Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen.’ Yes, Danny Kaye got it right in his Hans Christian Andersen movie, and what was right for him in 1952 is right for us today. Join David Wheeler on his fragrant circuit of this wonderful city and its world-class gardens, centred on the delightful Hotel First Mayfair in the city’s Latin Quarter. David has put an emphasis on roses because Denmark at that time will be flooded with rose-lovers from around the globe, assembled in Copenhagen for the 18th World Federation of Rose Societies Convention. From royal palace gardens and the unexpected beauty of myriad pocket-sized gardens in the renowned Tivoli Gardens to the best selection of private rose growers, the itinerary has been fashioned to illuminate and celebrate. We will have dinner in the hotel but explore Copenhagen’s restaurants and cafes at lunch.
