Listen here to Anne Glenconner. She told The Oldie how she was responsible for the love match between Princess Margaret and Roddy Llewellyn. At Princess Margaret’s funeral, the Queen approached Anne to thank her for 'giving Princess Margaret such a wonderful life in Mustique' and 'for introducing her to Roddy.'

Anne attended both the Queen’s and the King’s coronations. King Charles, whom she had known since he was a little boy, asked her at a private lunch, 'How was it, Anne?' She replied, 'Magnificent.'

Anne Glenconner’s jewels are set to go under the hammer at Bonhams on 11th December. At The Oldie Literary Lunch today, her daughter, the Hon. May Creasey, confessed to The Oldie that she will be watching the auction 'with her hand over her eyes’, as each piece evokes vivid memories of her mother wearing them.

The star attraction is the famed Star Tiara, reportedly destined for a collector in Japan.
